HKXC Leadership Courses
There is a leader in every single HKXC member.
The Hellgate Cross-Country program is committed to developing life-long leadership skills and self-confidence in our runners.
Leadership 101: This 5-7 week course is for those new to HKXC Leadership! Any grade level is welcome, and we believe the skills learned in this course help students throughout high school, college, and beyond. We will follow the basic principles laid out in Jeff Janssen’s “The Team Captain’s Leadership Manual.” Participants in the course will meet once a week after practice for about an hour to discuss the week’s assigned chapter and topic. It may sound a little like school…but it’s a total blast! Reach out to some of the Juniors and Seniors who have already taken the class to hear their thoughts on the course. If you haven’t had the class before and you want to become a stronger leader, join this fun team activity! We will be meeting Wednesdays after practice for an hour, beginning July 14th.
Leadership 202: This 5 to 7-week course is for those of you who have already taken the Leadership 101 course and been part of the team leadership. We will be diving a little deeper into some of the leadership topics that we covered last year with readings from a variety of leadership gurus and watching some great youtube TedTalks. We encourage all of you who have already begun using your leadership skills to fine tune them and learn from some of the great leaders! We will be meeting Wednesdays after practice for an hour, beginning July 7th.
